Cataracts

Cornelius, NC

If you think you may have cataracts and you are concerned with your vision, come visit our eye doctor. We are here to help our Cornelius, NC customers.

Cataracts occur when the normally clear lens in your eyes becomes clouded over. Most people who develop this vision problem remark that cataracts make it seem like they are always looking through a fogged-up window. This can make it difficult to engage in normal daily activities, like driving, reading, or watching TV. If you think you may have cataracts and you are concerned with your vision, come visit our eye doctor at Vision Center of Lake Norman. We are here to help our Cornelius, NC customers.

Keep in mind that in most cases, cataracts will develop slowly and won’t cause problems with your vision at first. However, as the problem persists, you will find that this vision problem starts to affect your ability to see. When you first come into our office for help treating your cataracts, we may recommend wearing eye glasses and relying on stronger lighting to help you see.

If the problem continues to get worse and affects your normal daily life, we may recommend cataract surgery. Although you may be worried about the prospect of having surgery, remember that cataract surgery is the most common surgery performed in the United States each year. Also, after cataract surgery, many times you do not have to wear glasses or contact lenses anymore.

Five Signs You May Have Eye Strain

Knowing when it’s time to give your eyes a break can be difficult to determine. Unfortunately, after being absorbed in a task, our eyes can often be tired and unable to focus, causing eye strain. Here are five signs that you may have eye strain and need to give your eyes a rest:

  1. Blurred or Double Vision
  2. Trouble Focusing on an Object or Task
  3. Watery or Dry Eyes
  4. Eyes that are Sore, Tired, and/or Burning
  5. Increased Light Sensitivity

To help prevent the onset of cataracts:
