Contact Lens Fitting

Statesville, NC

Our Statesville, NC, customers will appreciate that one of the first things we’ll do is go over what you want to get out of wearing contacts.

Today, thanks to the many advances made in contact lens technology, switching from glasses to contact lenses is easier than ever. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that putting a foreign object in your eye is any less intimidating. To make sure that going from wearing glasses to contacts is a seamless transition, we can provide our Statesville, North Carolina customers with a contact lens fitting at Vision Center of Lake Norman.

When you come in for a contact lens fitting, one of the first things we’ll do is go over what you want to get out of wearing contacts. We’ll help you determine the best contact lens option for you, such as multifocal contacts or monovision, extended-wear contacts or daily disposable lenses. Then, Dr. Monson will fit you with a pair of trial contact lenses that fit your eye properly and maximize your eyesight at both near and far.

The next step, once we find a comfortable, properly fitting contact lens, is for you to learn how to insert/remove the contact lens yourself.  After you have mastered how to take a contact lens in/out, then we will let you try them out.  Generally, we have you return to the office for a follow-up visit 1 week after your contact lens fitting to see how your new contact lenses are doing for you.

Below are tips to help:

  • Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling your contact lenses.
  • Rinse off your contact lenses with a multi-purpose solution and inspect them for debris before you put them in your eye.
  • Take it easy as you start wearing your lenses. Start by wearing them in two to four hour intervals and gradually work up to wearing them all day.  We do not recommend you sleep in your contact lenses, as it greatly increases your chances for eye infections.
  • When you remove the lenses, make sure to wash your hands with soap and water.  Also, make sure to use fresh contact lens solution each time putting your contact lens in your case.
