Technology

At Vision Center of Lake Norman, Dr. Monson and his staff strive to provide their patients with the highest quality of care using state of the art technology. Utilizing instruments like the Optomap, which provides a 200-degree view of the retina without dilation, the iCare, which checks intraocular pressure without the use of drops or a “puff” of air, and OCT, which takes detailed images of the ocular nerve and macula to help identify conditions such as glaucoma. We also utilize AdaptDX that tests dark adaptation and can detect macular degeneration 3-5 years before any symptoms arise. We offer our patients products of the highest quality and most up-to-date technology to ensure their best vision and eye health.

iCare

iCare tonometers are based on unique, patented rebound technology, in which a very light and small probe is used to make a momentary contact with the cornea. It is a glaucoma screening test. No air puff!

Optovue OCT

Optovue OCT technology generates high-resolution, three-dimensional (3D) scans of the retina, optic disc and anterior segment to give our doctor valuable information that aids in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, such as macular degeneration and glaucoma.

Optos

Daytona Optos takes a 200 degree digital image of the retina and is able to detect retinal detachments, glaucoma, macular degeneration and even melanoma.
