Eye Exams

Cornelius, NC

We offer comprehensive eye exams for all ages as an important part of your preventative health care.

Eye exams are something everyone should have on an annual basis, from childhood through retirement years, whether or not you have noticed a vision issue. There are various eye-related issues, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, that do not affect vision in the beginning, but can lead to permanent vision loss. At Vision Center of Lake Norman, we provide comprehensive eye exams for our patients in the Cornelius, North Carolina area as an important part of your preventative health care plan.

During our eye exams, we start with your medical history, including a discussion about the medications you are taking, how much time you spend on eye-intensive tasks or in environmental conditions that can affect your eyes, and if you are experiencing any vision or eye discomfort issues. The next step is testing your visual acuity to determine if you have 20/20 vision or need corrective lenses to get to optimal visual acuity.

Signs You Need To Update Your Prescription

If you wear glasses or contacts for vision correction, then it’s important to know the signs that it’s time to have your prescription updated. Here are a few important signals:

  • Gradual change in vision
  • Headaches
  • Eye strain or eye fatigue during routine activities
  • Feeling the need to squint even while wearing your glasses
  • The need to hold objects farther away from you to read

If you are experiencing one or more of these symptoms, contact us today to schedule your eye exam!

In addition to vision testing, we also do other preliminary tests to determine the health of your eyes. These tests can include checking your peripheral vision, color vision, light response by the pupils, eye muscle movement, and other supplemental testing as indicated.  We finish the eye health examination by looking at the front and back of the eye with a microscope and other scanning equipment.

If you have any questions about what is involved with our eye exams or you would like to schedule an appointment, don’t hesitate to contact us. We accept patients of all ages, including children, so you can have peace of mind that your entire family’s eye health and vision are the best they can be.
